Facility planning was completed to expand the 5.61 MGD activated sludge wastewater treatment plant to 8.5 MGD DAF and 22 MGD peak hourly flow. Planned improvements included a new headworks, UV disinfection, a second Orbal™ oxidation ditch, additional secondary clarifiers, expanded aerobic sludge digesters, sludge handling upgrades, and provisions for nutrient and zinc removal.

Phase 1 of the project focused on constructing a new headworks building housing two mechanical fine screens and UV disinfection. Additional improvements in this phase included a new metering vault, upgrades to the non-potable water system, and new process analyzers in the Orbal™ oxidation ditch to optimize biological nutrient removal.
