This position can be based at the Breese Corporate Office or the Waterloo, IL Office. Specific duties include:

  • Planning, design & project management for Illinois Department of Transportation bridges.
  • Planning, design & project management for county & municipal bridges.
  • Planning, design and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment plant structures and single-story buildings.
  •  Bridge hydraulic computations and modeling.
  •  Preparation of Bridge Condition Reports.

Candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural/Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Licensure as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) in Illinois, or the ability to obtain via reciprocity.
  • Preferred ten (10) years of design experience on transportation & water related structural projects.
  • Knowledge and experience with Illinois Department of Transportation policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of various bridge design software packages.
  • Experience with hydraulic design software.

HMG’s Water Sector expertise includes all aspects of municipal water, including source & supply, treatment, pumping, distribution & storage; and municipal wastewater, including collection, pumping, treatment, and sludge management.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Project planning reports and feasibility studies.
  • Design engineering and preparation of design deliverables (plans, specifications, etc.)
  • Construction guidance and administration.

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Between 5-8 years of design experience in water and wastewater engineering.
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Illinois, or the ability to obtain via reciprocity.
  • Experience with water distribution system modeling.

Engineering Technicians provide design phase & construction phase support to professional engineers on state, county, and municipal infrastructure projects including water supply, wastewater, stormwater & transportation.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Topographical surveying & data processing.
  • Design support for water, wastewater, stormwater & transportation projects.
  • Construction observation.

Ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Associate of Science Degree in Construction Management, Engineering Science/Technology,
    Mathematics, Physics, Science or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years of infrastructure/public works related experience.
  • Understanding of Standard Specifications for Water & Sewer Construction in Illinois & IDOT Standard Specifications.
  • Experience with Total Station/GPS equipment.
  • Experience with Microstation or AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel & Teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with an attention to detail and willingness to work as part of a team.
