The Lick Creek Road project in Union County, Illinois, addresses a high-crash corridor extending 9.4 miles from 0.1 miles north of IL Route 146 to the I-57 interchange. HMG Engineers secured Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funds for the county and provided Phase I design, IDOT environmental coordination, a Local Roads Project Development Report (PDR), and Phase II construction plans.
Planned safety improvements include 4-foot HMA shoulders with rumble strips, raised reflective pavement markers, and new warning signs at curves. Construction is scheduled for letting in April 2024.
