The Idler Lane project, located along Idler Lane from IL-127 to approximately 150 feet north of Samuel W. Andrews Drive, reconstructed about 710 feet of roadway with new PCC pavement. Improvements included minor horizontal and vertical realignment of the roadway and intersection, as well as installation of storm sewer, curb and gutter, and sidewalk. Construction was staged to maintain access for commercial traffic.

HMG’s services included topographic and legal surveys, traffic counts, preparation of the Preliminary Design Report (PDR) and Intersection Design Studies (IDS) for IDOT approval, permitting (ESR), geometric and storm sewer design, right-of-way platting, and development of plans, specifications, and estimates. HMG also assisted the City in securing IDOT Economic Development Program (EDP) and Transportation Alternatives Program (TARP) funding. Additionally, HMG provided full-time construction engineering and utilized ICORS to meet IDOT documentation requirements.

The total construction cost was approximately $705,000, funded through federal, state, and local sources.
