About
HMG Engineers provided civil engineering and site design for the Carlyle High School athletic track and field improvements. The project transformed the facility with synthetic turf, a new all-weather track, upgraded field event areas, ADA-compliant walkways, and innovative drainage solutions designed to overcome challenging site constraints.

The Carlyle H.S. athletic track and field improvements were made possible through years of fundraising and community support. The project faced challenges from a tight site layout, elevation constraints with existing buildings, and the proposed drainage layout.
Upgrades included replacing the grass field with synthetic turf, reconstructing the cinder track with a paved all-weather athletic surface, new field events facilities for high jump, long jump, shot put and discus.
In addition, site design included walkways with ADA-compliant sidewalks. The location of the athletic field demanded innovative solutions with perimeter inlets around the track along with cross sectional drainage beneath the field to convey infiltration to a newly constructed detention pond that receives track and field drainage.
