About
HMG Engineers provided civil engineering and site design for the Carlyle High School athletic track and field improvements. The project transformed the facility with synthetic turf, a new all-weather track, upgraded field event areas, ADA-compliant walkways, and innovative drainage solutions designed to overcome challenging site constraints.

The Carlyle H.S. athletic track and field improvements weremade possible through years of fundraising and communitysupport. The project faced challenges from a tight sitelayout, elevation constraints with existing buildings, and theproposed drainage layout.
Upgrades included replacing the grass field with syntheticturf, reconstructing the cinder track with a paved all-weatherathletic surface, new field events facilities for high jump,long jump, shot put and discus.
In addition, site design included walkways with ADA-compliant sidewalks. The location of the athletic fielddemanded innovative solutions with perimeter inlets aroundthe track along with cross sectional drainage beneath thefield to convey infiltration to a newly constructed detentionpond that receives track and field drainage.
