HMG provided comprehensive services for the design and construction of a new wastewater treatment facility, including facility planning, IEPA loan application assistance, design, bidding, construction guidance, construction observation, and commissioning. The facility was designed for a daily average flow of 1.65 MGD and a peak hourly flow of 11 MGD, addressing the community’s current and future treatment needs.
To improve peak flow handling, the existing storm clarifier at the old wastewater treatment plant across the road was incorporated into the new facility. The new treatment process includes a headworks with screening and grit removal, an inside-out oxidation ditch process with anaerobic selector for biological nutrient removal, secondary clarification, and advanced aerobic digestion with compressed air mixing.
Additional facilities include sludge dewatering and ultraviolet disinfection, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable wastewater treatment.
