The existing 200,000-gallon South Elevated Tank, located near the City’s Power Plant, had exceeded its useful service life and required replacement. To address the tank’s deficiencies and accommodate continued growth, a new 300,000-gallon elevated storage tank is proposed on the south side of the water distribution system. The proposed facility will replace the existing 200,000-gallon tank and provide an additional 100,000 gallons of storage capacity to support future growth and emergency interconnections with surrounding communities.

The Basis of Design for the proposed 300,000-gallon elevated tank was developed using a hydraulic model of the City’s water distribution system. Water mains 6 inches in diameter and larger were incorporated into the model using the City’s GIS mapping data and analyzed in InfoWater, an ESRI-compatible hydraulic modeling software. The model was used to evaluate existing system conditions, storage requirements, system pressures, and anticipated future demands to establish the appropriate capacity and location for the proposed elevated storage facility.
