John Wieter has nearly 25 years of experience in civil and environmental engineering, with a focus on water and wastewater systems. He first joined HMG Engineers in 2000, returned in 2011, and now serves as Senior Vice President and Principal for HMG’s Water Sector. John leads environmental projects that range from water treatment and supply planning to wastewater collection and treatment facility design.

He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and Missouri. John’s project portfolio includes award-winning work such as the Sparta, IL Water Treatment Plant, which earned an ACEC-IL Engineering Excellence Merit Award. His expertise spans facilities planning, hydraulic modeling, pump stations, storage tanks, membrane filtration, sludge management, infiltration/inflow studies, and lift station design.

As an active leader in his profession, John serves on the ACEC-IL Environmental Committee for the American Council of Engineering Companies. He is also a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and Water Environment Federation.
